Ecto Cooler is the 22nd episode from season 5 of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.

Plot[]

Billy is talking with Sperg and his two friends, trying to be cool but Sperg is uninterested and smashes him into a locker. Mandy tells Billy that Sperg and his gang aren't not cool or considered popular, and Thugs and Bullies respect THUGS & BULLIES. This gives Billy an idea so he kisses Mandy and walks up to Irwin and gives him a wedgie to show that he is on their side but Sperg angrilly yells (He was actually impressed) at Billy, He attempts to spit on him, but a ghostly arm comes out and slaps Sperg, as Sperg runs away in fear.

After he gets home, Billy tries talking to his dad about it, to which Harold (initially assuming that Billy's asking him about puberty) nervously starts to explain how a person's body goes through various changes as they get older -- but when Harold sees the ghostly arm coming out of Billy's mouth, Harold ultimately freaks out upon realizing what Billy was actually getting at. The father-and-son go to Grim about it, who explains that the arm coming out of Billy's mouth is made of ectoplasm and that Billy must be channeling a spirit somehow. Grim explains to Billy and Harold that they won't know what kind of spirit it is until it's fully manifested, because right now it's just an arm. Later it is revealed the reason Billy is channeling a spirit is because he sucked on Grim's head.

The next morning, while Billy's getting ready for school, the spirit fully manifests itself while Billy's in the middle of brushing teeth. The spirit turns out to be none other than Lord Byron, a British poet from the 19th-century. After introducing themselves to each other, Lord Byron explains that the reason he's there to help Billy become "cool," revealing how he himself was a nerd in his youth before eventually growing up to be one of the most popular people of his generation. Later on, after getting to school and introducing Lord Byron to Mandy, the poet's first lesson to Billy is to fight back against Sperg in a non-physical way ("the pen is mightier than the sword," as Lord Byron notes). Billy then writes an insulting about Sperg's mom, which makes Sperg angry enough to beat him up with after school that day.

Lord Byron helps Billy fight back against Sperg and his two cronies, but the two are ultimately beaten and bruised -- Lord Byron eventually fades away back to spirit realm, much to Billy's dismay. The episode ends with Grim at Mandy's house for the night, and she ends up channeling three of her own spirits: Atila the Hun, Rasputin and (for some odd reason) Abraham Lincoln.
